Widowed makeup artist Jane Sullivan is more comfortable keeping her husband’s memory alive than dating a pool full of sharks. Ella, her 4 year-old daughter, is her whole world.
When Jane meets Lucas Oliver, famous cover model, it’s hate at first sight. His playboy persona rubs her the wrong way.
Accustomed to every woman fawning over him, Lucas is drawn to the shy, uncompromising single mom and completely melts at the sight of Ella. He is determined to convince Jane that sometimes a second chance can mend a broken heart.
* Content * – There is no sex scene in this book but sex is implied – there is one page where Jane talks about how having sex with the hero makes her feel, there is also one scene where the hero joins her in the shower. A few mild swear words but otherwise clean. If you like your books “squeaky clean” this one isn’t for you.

Fun book. When it first started out, I was afraid it was going to be shallow (lots of references to hot guys, etc) but it turned out to be a thoughtful story with likable characters. I look forward to reading more from this author. ~ Author Karey White
Great story! Loved Jane's strength, and learning the layers of "Tarzan." This is a great story about moving on after a tragedy and learning to trust again! ~ Author Sherry Gammon
I adored this book. The characters were so alive for me that I was actually sad when the book ended. I wanted more. Maybe the author will be kind enough to write about each of the male models mentioned here ... If your looking for a heartfelt story this is the book for you. ~Solmarie
I’m a dreamer
I’m a sinner
I love my books
I conjure hooks
And heroes with good looks
Romance is my guilty pleasure
Taking me to places with new decor
Come join me if you dare
I promise not to bore
If you like to read my stories
Pray my husband continues snorin’
For he’s the one who keeps me up at night
When I give my heroes wings and flight.

I have to admit I was expecting it to be all about the chase for Lucas because he's not used to being disliked by women - I'll leave you to discover what happens. They spend their time arguing and only seem to get on when it comes to Ella. Lucas is instantly under Ella's thumb and spends a lot of time with them.
I really liked Ella and felt she was a cute way to draw them together. I appreciated the balance in the story and I actually liked the lack of sex scenes because the story didn't really need it.
Jane is reserved and a little repressed at times. It will take a strong person to break through the fortified walls she's constructed to protect her heart and her daughter. I liked the combination of strength and vulnerability she demonstrates. Oh and of course I loved the sassy side a certain person brings out in her.
I would have liked to see some chapters from Lucas's POV because it may have helped get a few answers about his more questionable moments. There were a couple of grey areas and times where I wasn't entirely on board with Lucas's actions. I wanted Jane to confront him but I enjoyed the story and had my fingers crossed for a HEA.
“Who’s this lovely young lady?” Crouched next to Ella, Lucas looks like a giant. Dark jeans stretch over his muscled thighs. I hear Lana sighing.
It takes a lot of control not to grab my daughter and shelter her from Lucas. Take her away where he can’t even see her, let alone talk to her.
“I’m not allowed to talk to strangers, mister.” Ella looks at me for approval.
I nod and smile at her, but my smile fades at Madame V’s words, “He’s not a stranger, ma petite. He’s my friend and your mommy lets you talk to him. Right, Jane?”
Lucas looks at me for the first time since entering the room, one eyebrow as cocked as his confidence.
“Right,” I say between my teeth.
“My name is Ella, Ella Rae Sulliban.” My daughter extends her chubby hand and looks at Lucas with that expression I know so well when someone piques her interest. Oh, no, not my daughter, too!
Lucas takes her hand in his and kisses it, which earns him a giggle from Ella. “Oh, Ella, Ella Rae Sullivan, are you a princess?” He squints his eyes. “Or maybe a fairy? You look like one, you know? So beautiful, where did you come from?”
“From my mommy’s belly.” Ella points toward me then adds, “And what’s your name, mister?”
There’s laugh behind Lucas’ covered mouth and I thank him silently for not laughing aloud at Ella’s innocent answer.
“My name is Lucas, Lucas Oliver. Pleased to meet you, Ella, Ella Rae Sullivan.”
Ella giggles. “No, it’s only Ella Rae Sulliban.” She raises one finger, “Not Ella, Ella Rae Sulliban.” Now there are two fingers up in the air right in front of Lucas’ face.
“Isn’t she adorable?” Madame V gets up from the chair and kneels next to Lucas and Ella, even though I’m not done with her makeup, nor is Lana with the hairdo. “We should put photos of her in the magazine, what do you think?”
Lucas straightens and hooks both hands in his front pockets, the faded blue V-neck shirt tight over his muscles. A playful smile breezes over his lips, but the smile doesn’t reach his kiwi-green eyes. Staring at me he says, “She doesn’t do photos.”
