Review: The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines

What they say: Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist...

What I say: After being disappointment by Breathe, I felt I needed to try another Abbi Glines book - I went for The Vincent Boys because I do enjoy a bit of family drama! The Vincent Boys is the story of childhood friends Ashton, Beau and Sawyer. Ashton is torn between cousins Sawyer (her perfect all American boyfriend) and the town's sexy bad boy Beau. I read the new edition which has been edited and sexed-up into a NA book.

I liked Ashton and could genuinely understand her confusion. The two Vincent boys represented who she thought she should be and who she actually was. I'm not usually a fan of story where cheating is involved, BUT in the case of The Vincent Boys I was encouraging Ashton to make the right decision and to cheat (not sure what that says about me).

It's much more complicated than Ashton wanting both boys; and it's worth considering that the perfect Sawyer isn't as innocent as everybody in the town seemed to think. I wasn't the biggest Sawyer fan, especially when I read Beau's POV on Ashton and Sawyer's relationship.

I have definitely found a new BBF in Beau Vincent!! Beau encompasses the perfect mix of sarcastic and sexy, combined with vulnerability and a hidden romantic side! I think Beau definitely got the raw deal when it came to his family and people were extremely judgemental of him.

I really enjoyed The Vincent Boys and I definitely had a favourite Vincent boy! I do think some of the dialogue needs a bit of work as it doesn't always flow and can seem a bit contrived. However it's a good story and I'm glad I moved past Breathe and gave Abbi Glines another chance to wow me.

4 Stars in my Sky!

My fav non-spoilery quotes:
  • Fences that crumbled and I never knew why. One day he was Beau, my best friend. The next day he was just my boyfriend's cousin.
  • Ash had been mine. She'd been my partner in crime, the one person I told all my dreams and fears to, my soul mate. Then just like everything else in Sawyer's perfect life, he got my girl.
  • He wasn't the perfect guy I'd thought he was. Maybe I'd put him on a pedestal.
  • "I knew Beau loved you. I'd seen the way he looked at you."
