ARC Review: Mr Right Now by Kristina Knight

What they say (book info):

“Should we continue this in my room or yours?” – Mason

The wrong guy might be just right for her.
When her celebrity boyfriend of three years dumps her and claims he’s now gay, unlucky-in-love author Casey Cash decides to get out of New York. A cruise seems like the perfect escape: everyone onboard will be locked away from television, newspapers and internet gossip pages, allowing her some much needed relaxation. There’s only one problem: her oh-so-helpful agent has hired a male escort for her…and a big NYC paper has sent a pesky reporter on-board, vowing to get the dirt.

Mason Drury doesn’t want to write an expose on Casey, but he’s in a bind. After a source flipped on him, he’s persona non grata at his newspaper. Celebrity trash or not, this story will put him back on top. Too bad he finds himself breaking the first rule of reporting by getting attached to his subject and letting bias influence his story.
Casey’s much more interested in sexy Mason than the annoying escort who’s bunking in her room. Mason might even have romantic potential if she can shake her well-meaning—but nosey—fans. Oh, and that reporter. She’s got to avoid him at all costs…

CONTENT WARNING: A smattering of sass, sex and a heaping happily ever after.

What I say (review): Mr. Right Now is a short and sweet contemporary romance, which made me smile. It's no secret that I'm often slightly cynical about chick-lit and may have been guilty in the past of using the word 'fluff'. Kristina Knight's story definitely isn't fluff and is a great holiday read (it doesn't hurt that characters are on holiday themselves).

My favourite part of the story is the main character Cassandra 'Casey' Cash. As someone who often gets coerced into things by my friends I could empathise with Casey being 'helped' by her friend and agent. After being dumped by her actor boyfriend, romance writer Casey is persuaded to take a  holiday cruise to escape the paps and reporters. Almost as soon as embarking on the ship she meets Mason Drury. Casey is unaware Mason is a reporter send to get an exclusive on her breakup. Add in to the mix her enforced cabin-mate and male escort Tyler, poor Casey goes from one potential disaster to another.

I don't want to spoil the plot for anybody as it drives me round the twist when people do it to me, but be prepared to laugh at Casey's antics. There are some sexy scenes in Mr. Right Now so this one isn't for younger readers. I've been on several cruises and have most definitely not had as much fun as Casey. I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to look at a sauna in quite the same way again.

3.5 Stars in my Sky!

My fav non-spoilery quotes:
  • Tyler smiled a semi-come-hither smile. It would have worked better without the remnant of tissue stuck to the corner of his mouth.
  • She set up this fiasco by hiring an escort, and now Casey had a nose-bleeding nerd in her room, and a blushing stud outside her door.
