There are some mistakes we make that we will regret for the rest of our lives. For Christian Davison, it was the day he betrayed Elizabeth Ayers. For five years, Christian has regretted the day he walked away from his family and will do anything to win them back. Can Elizabeth forgive someone who has committed the unforgiveable? Or are there some wounds that go so deep they can never heal?

What I say: I read it a while ago and still cannot decide how I feel about Take This Regret. I think this is because I wanted to love it because lots of other reviews had done so and because I'm a fan of A.L. Jackson's writing.
I enjoyed the story and I'm usually a sucker for a second chance romance (as long as there's no cheating involved) but I wasn't totally convinced by Christian and couldn't move away from his past actions. I think my main problem with him was I wasn't convinced a guy would really think the way he does in his POV scenes.
I also felt kinda bad for Elizabeth who had been abandoned in her time of need and then is suddenly faced with Christian and his demands. BUT I did believe Christian was sincere in his remorse and appreciated the journey he went on to become a better man. I also couldn't help thinking that if either of them had taken the time to talk when the incident happened they could have sorted things out a lot sooner.
I loved Lizzie who has got to be one of the cutest book kids ever. I liked how she wasn't damaged by their actions. She just enjoys being a kid and having her Daddy around. It was nice to see how protective Elizabeth was of her daughter and how she's never resentful for missing out on what could have been.
I would usually find Elizabeth's inner goodness a bit annoying but it worked for the story. I liked how her sunny nature had been passed on to her daughter and how they both managed to show Christian what real love looks like. Overall I ended up liking the book but not loving it.
3.5 Stars in my Sky!
