Unravel Me Review

Unravel Me #1 by Kendall Ryan

What they say: Psychology student Ashlyn Drake’s neat, orderly life takes a turn for the crazy when she finds the perfect subject for her amnesia thesis – a young man without any memory of his previous life, including the murder he’s accused of committing.

Against all common sense, Ashlyn’s drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Perhaps it’s that he’s so incredibly male, and even handcuffed to his hospital bed he could pass for a cologne ad – Scent de Insanity. Or perhaps it’s because she’s spent too many lonely nights studying. Either way, she’s determined to help him solve the mystery of his past. She begins to unravel who he was before, using his cryptic tattoos, and his paintings that scream of a dark past as her only clues. When she finally learns his secret there’s no telling which one is the real him, the gentle lover she’s fallen for or the troubled man with a dark past.

UNRAVEL ME is a contemporary erotic romance by Kendall Ryan.

What I say: I've been hearing about Unravel Me for quite some time but hadn't had the time to read it until now. The concept is very different from your average contemporary romance. Can you imagine falling for the guy you're supposed to be studying? The same guy who has no memory or any idea of who he is, who is also being held under suspicion of murder? Well that's exactly the situation Ashlyn faces in Unravel Me. Or, as Ash puts it "he was a mystery to unravel, a puzzle I desperately wanted to solve."

When Ash meets the mysterious Logan they are instantly drawn and attracted to each other and begin an extremely complicated love story. Sometimes I really liked Ash because she's intelligent, determined and loyal, but she also puts up with a lot of uncertainty and misunderstandings with Logan. Logan is in a terrible situation because he likes Ash but doesn't know who he is, where he's from, if he's dangerous and what happened to him. It must be extremely difficult to commit to somebody when you don't even know who you are.

There is a LOT of sex and naughty bits in Unravel Me, and formerly frustrated Ash is taken on quite the journey with Logan.

I felt the ending was a little rushed and I would have liked to see more of them initially in the hospital. I also wanted to know more about what happened to the charges. I also felt Logan owed Ash more of an explanation and a better apology but I enjoyed their story and this different type of modern romance.

3.5 Stars in my Sky!

My fav non-spoilery quotes:

  • "I'd rather be hurt all at once for a specific reason, than be hurt slowly every day."
  • Lying in a hospital bed like that, he could have been posing for a cologne ad. Scent de insanity.
  • Aut viam inveniam aut faciam tibi - I will either find a way or make one.
  • Logan, with no memory of his own life was teaching me how to live in the moment and enjoy mine.
