I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
What I say: The Scandalous Love of a Duke is a fun historical romance. Katherine 'Kate' has been in love with John, her brother Philip's childhood friend for years, but John is the future Duke of Pembroke and is far above her humble station. He's also disheartened, mistrustful and up-to-now, completely oblivious to Kate as anything more than a childhood friend.
I really like Kate, she's not your average young woman and often seemed far more modern than we would have expected from her time. What I liked about her was her strength. She stands up to John when he's being pretentious (well mostly) and pushes past his stubbornness.
John goes on something of a journey in the book. He's still wears the scars of his past but thankfully Kate is there to help him, even when, quite frankly he didn't deserve it.
I wasn't expecting to laugh as much as I did. Some of the scenarios they found themselves in were really ridiculous, whilst others were really sad. Their romance was sweet, infuriating and sometimes traumatic but I really liked the story and wanted them to find a HEA!
4 Stars in my Sky!
