What I say: Oh wow, it took me ages to get around to posting this review because it took me a long time to figuring out where I stand and how I feel about One Night Denied - here's why: I do really like Jodi Ellen Malpas's writing and in theory I like the idea of an alpha. In the This Man series I felt that Jesse got away with a lot but I still understood why she forgave him (stalking aside) but in the One Night series I cannot decided whether Miller is a hot alpha or genuinely unhinged. Livy is living in a world full of opposites, she's either having the best sex ever or is a crying mess (which I hold Miller responsible for) and everything seems to happen really fast. The problem lies with my general 'sitting on the fence' - What I mean is that I'm not sure about some of Millers antics but I was okay with Jesse doing similar things.
I did really enjoy the story in One Night Denied and it was good to get some answers regarding Miller and his past. Livy is far more forgiving than me; I'm not sure I'd be able to forgive certain actions, but her own past has a big influence on why she's able to accept certain revelations which others may not.
Miller Hart clearly has all the lines, because as infuriating as I found his many secrets and bossy attitude, I still really liked him (you see my dilemma?). I love Liv's Gran/Nan she's even more awesome in this instalment and had some brilliant one-liners!!
I think a lot of the emotional upheaval is setting up for when Livy really has to deal with her past. She definitely has issues and was skirting the line of becoming a pushover on several occasions - BUT thankfully her inner strength appeared and she was able to handle herself better.
As with JEM's This Man series it seems the main battle is outside forces verses the characters themselves. Everybody seems to wish them ill and they both have a lot to come to terms with, if they're going to achieve their HEA in the final instalment - I do have faith in JEM and am sure she's got us covered though!
So in conclusion I enjoyed the story, wanted more answers and hope Miller can get a handle on his bossy dominant side, whilst I hope Livy continues to show strength and determination. Also can we please find a fast way to deal with the 'THEM'?! #conflicted
4 Stars in my Sky!
