Be With Me Review

Be With Me (Wait for You #2) by J.Lynn/Jennifer L. Armentrout

What they say: Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.

Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.

As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not...

What I say: I LOVED Wait for You and the novella Trust in Me and have waiting for Be With Me for along time. Because I loved Cam and Avery so much I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Tess and Jase, but I shouldn't have worried because J.Lynn has written a great followup and her characters are as engaging as ever!

This time we focus on Cam's little sister Teresa 'Tess' Hamilton. The book follows Tess as she comes to turn with changes in her life and begins Uni. Tess has had a thing (i.e. a huge obsession) for Cam's bestie Jase (yes, guys can have a bestie) for several years and Be With Me is their story (don't worry Avery and Cam are in the book lots).

I've you've read book one you'll already know about Tess and Jase but it was great to have them as the focus. They bring it, but in a totally different way to Avery and Cam! Both Tess and Jase are vulnerable but deal with their problems very differently; Tess has always been focused on her dancing and Jase has focused on er girls, girls and more girls.

I always enjoy J.Lynn/Jennifer's writing because I love the combination of feistiness, snark and vulnerability her characters usually encompass. Tess had some brilliant one-liners, in fact they both did. I was torn between wanting them to get together and worrying what would happen if Cam found out.

I was very pleased to see our old fav's back and some fab new characters. BUT most importantly there were turtles!!! If Cam and Avery's beloved turtles hadn't been mentioned I prob would have cried!

J.Lynn has incorporated a whole host of different themes and ideas into the story with some scorchingly hot scenes (more so than I remembered in Wait for You). Plus some romantic and cute ones (hello cupcakes). Both the leads have, and do really suffer in Be With Me. We see them struggle with some pretty traumatic problems (I cried a lot). But it's all done with great ease and the elements all fit together well.

A great addition to the series and I'm looking forward to the next one!!

4 Stars in my Sky!

My fav non-spoilery quotes:

  • Man, this conversation was about as awkward as two monkeys trying to screw a football.
  • "Want to smack me again? You could try my ass. I'll probably like that."
  • My brother stared at me like I'd told him I was now dating his pet turtle.
  • "Santa looks a little drunk on the roof."
