Easter Read - Mr. Impossible and the Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Easter lovelies

Mr. Impossible and the Easter Egg Hunt
(Mr. Men & Little Miss Celebrations)
by Roger Hargreaves

What they say: Mr Impossible is organising an Easter egg hunt for all the Mr Men and Little Miss and he is hiding the eggs in the most impossible places ...Some are so high that only Mr Tall can find them and some so low and cleverly hidden that Mr Small will need to be called. But it is Mr Nobody who manages to find the most difficult egg of all - the invisible egg! Packed with Easter fun from beginning to end.

Too cute!

Happy Egg Hunting (inside or in your gardens of course).

World Book Day 2020

Happy World Book day!!

I LOVE world book day - it supports everything I believe in and am thrilled I get to share my love of books and reading with the children at school as well. We're doing PJ's to school instead of dressing as a character this year.

The theme is Share a Million Stories.

Look out for your voucher to get a free World Book Day book or £1 off another book!

For more info head to the official website!

Why it's important:

Research has shown that reading for pleasure has a huge impact on how successful children become. Unfortunately reading for pleasure is in decline (this breaks my heart) and many children in the UK do not own a book and the number of children being read to is in huge decline! As a teacher I see the impact on children. It ranges from impact on health, play and imagination to speaking and listening. So let's read people!

Whatcha Reading Wednesday Christmas Day Edition - Christmas Comes to Moominvalley

Christmas Comes to Moominvalley
by Alex Haridi,  Cecilia Davidsson, and Tove Jansson

What they say: Everyone is welcome in Moominvalley - especially at Christmas. A beautiful, collectible and classic picture book, lavishly embossed and foiled, Christmas Comes to Moominvalley is the perfect gift for Moomin fans of all ages.

This is an exquisitely illustrated re-telling of Tove Jansson's classic story The Fir Tree, in which the kindly Moomins are woken up from their winter sleep to be told that 'Christmas' is coming. The only trouble is, the puzzled Moomins have no idea who, or what 'Christmas' is . . .
A new generation of readers will enjoy meeting the loveable Moomintroll, his parents Moominmamma and Moominpapa, and all their friends in this beautifully illustrated story, in which the Moomin family demonstrate their special values of tolerance, kindness and integrity, as they prepare for their first Christmas - helping us understand what the festive season is really all about.

Am Reading - The Christmas Eve Tree

The Christmas Eve Tree
by Delia Huddy and illustrated by Emily Sutton

What they say: When the ugly little fir tree is taken to the city, no one wants to buy him; they prefer the big tall trees. But a homeless boy asks the shopkeeper if he can take the tree, and down by the river in a cardboard box, decorated with a few candles, the tree finds itself at the centre of a magical Christmas Eve it will never forget. A Christmas tale with a classic feel but a modern theme at its heart.

Author Spotlight - Eloise Williams

Eloise Williams the fab author of Gaslight and Seaglass, has recently been named the Children’s Laureate Wales for 2019 – 2021.

To celebrate, I'm highlighting the fab Gaslight!

What they say: 1899. All Nansi knows is that her mother disappeared on the day she was fished out of Cardiff docks. She can't remember anything else.

Now, with no other family to turn to, she works for Sid at the Empire Theatre, sometimes legally, sometimes thieving to order, trying to earn enough money to hire a detective to find her mother.

Everything changes when Constance and Violet join the theatre, both with their own dark secrets. Nansi is forced to be part of Violet's crooked psychic act. But it's when Constance recognises her, and realises who her mother must be, that Nansi's world is turned upside down forever. She is soon on the run for her life and she will have to risk everything if she's going to find the truth.

Top Fav to Celebrate Graduation

This is a special day for me. I'm officially qualified...!

#Classof2019

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
by J.K. Rowling

I have several versions of all of the HP books including 1st editions (yes I know I'm lucky - this isn't a 1st edition in the picture as wouldn't dare fold it open like this). I wanted to focus on one of my all time favs today...

What they say: Harry Potter's life is miserable. His parents are dead and he's stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he's a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

After a lifetime of bottling up his magical powers, Harry finally feels like a normal kid. But even within the Wizarding community, he is special. He is the boy who lived: the only person to have ever survived a killing curse inflicted by the evil Lord Voldemort, who launched a brutal takeover of the Wizarding world, only to vanish after failing to kill Harry.

Though Harry's first year at Hogwarts is the best of his life, not everything is perfect. There is a dangerous secret object hidden within the castle walls, and Harry believes it's his responsibility to prevent it from falling into evil hands. But doing so will bring him into contact with forces more terrifying than he ever could have imagined.

Full of sympathetic characters, wildly imaginative situations, and countless exciting details, the first installment in the series assembles an unforgettable magical world and sets the stage for many high-stakes adventures to come.
