Unrest by Wendy Higgins

Release Day: February 14th

Being on the run in the desert means food and sanctuary are hard to come by, but Amber Tate and her crew are not about to give up. Not after having so many of the things they love brutally ripped from them by an unknown enemy who sent their world into the apocalypse.

Survival takes precedence, but once safe shelter is found, their guards fall and the emotions they’ve been holding in are finally released. Anger, insecurities...lust. In their tight quarters, Amber, Rylen, Tater, and Remy can't escape it. The past must be faced, and passions run even stronger in the darkest of times.

In the midst of unrest, their worlds are rocked again when they discover the truth about the war that’s ruined their lives. They thought finding out the enemy's identity would give them the edge; instead it’s revealed terrifying dangers they never thought possible.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: *Note* Unrest is the followup to Wendy Higgins' Unknown and isn't a standalone story. For review purposes I'm going to presume you've read book one.

The action in Unrest picks up right where it left off and we're instantly thrown back into the drama with Amber and Rylen.

I'm a big fan of Amber and her family. Amber is just as sweet, smart sassy as ever. I particularly loved her devotion to her friends and family. Although I did find myself getting a little stressed about Amber's unwavering obsession with Rylen. However, this was also what I liked about the story - it's a tricky thing to balance. I really appreciated the drama a lot more this time round and the increased pace.

There's lots of action and drama but in a different way to we saw in Unknown. The story had an almost road-trip feel in places and was an all out war in others (don't worry no spoilers). It was nice to meet lots of new characters, as well as catching up with Remy and Tater.

Wendy Higgins really upped the suspense in this one, but more importantly, she ups the romantic tension - oh the drama. There's a whole random tangent involving Remy which I didn't really get at all - to be honest it had me questioning the ages of the characters ,because they suddenly seem much younger than reported. BUT overall I enjoyed the story and have just about recovered from that flipping cliffy!!!

3.5 Stars in my Sky!
