#ForeverMoments
#ForeverMoments is an idea inspired by Jennifer L. Armentrout's FOREVER WITH YOU *fan-girl swoon*. Today myself and lots of writers, bloggers and readers are joining in the celebration by posting about the special moments, events and people, that will stay with us forever.
My #ForeverMoments - Some are more poignant than others, but they've all stay with me for a variety of reasons.
(I promised I wouldn't give names and to keep this as vague as possible).
Here's to Harry Potter, fate and lasting friendship:
A bit of background on this one: I started University as an only child who had never had to share my space and was horrified by the idea of sharing a dorm room with a complete stranger. This may not seem like a big deal, but to me at the time, it really was (only children are used to their own space). I was terrified I'd have a big scary roomie, who'd hate me on sight, but from the first moment JC entered the room carrying her Harry Potter books and bottles of schnapps, I was like "we've SO got this!" We survived horrible boyfriends, campus food, an accidental slap and real heartbreak. We bonded over snowboarding, Pimms and HP. My #ForeverMoment is queueing for over 12 hours in central London, dressed in our Gryffindor robes, to get our hands on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. JC came down just to celebrate with me. Another one of our friends told me afterwards that she had never seen us happier than in the pictures of when we finally got our hands on the book. I'm really not sure what this says about me, but as two girls who had been there with Harry, Ron and Hermione right from the start (I'm lucky to own first editions of all the books), this silly moment will stay with me forever. Only a true friend would get why this was so important and JC didn't hesitate for a second to come with me.

I've developed something of a paranoia that I'm a jinx when it comes to loved ones being in hospital or going to the doctor. At one stage it seemed like everybody I've left in hospital has then passed away. So when a family member recently found himself in the ICU I didn't want to leave him there for fear the reaper would strike again (I'm nothing if not dramatic). Another lovely relative dragged me out, held my hand whilst I had a meltdown, and convinced me everything would be fine. The #ForeverMoment here is is twofold. One for my relative for putting up with my irrational fear. But mostly for him. He broke this horrible trend by kicking my and the ICU's arse!!

Never underestimate the kindness of strangers:
Another #ForeverMoment was the 'perfect day' I spend with complete strangers when I was travelling in Fiji. On this day and much to the disgust of the poor tour guide, we all jumped off the boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and swam ashore to one of the random and beautiful islands. We spent all day and night pretending to be Castaways. We shared food and stories well into the night and I will always remember this as one truly perfect day! We didn't know each other and without looking at my travelling journal, I cannot remember all the names of the people there, but I do remember how, for that day we didn't worry about money, health, technology or anything else. So THANK YOU all :)
