Wait for You by J Lynn Review

What they say (Info & Blurb):
Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

What I say: Warning!!! Wait for You by J Lynn will make you crave eggs, turtles, rainstorms and super hot, former manwhores called Cam. Oh Avery, you lucky gal!

Published under her naughtier adult pen name J Lynn, Jennifer L Armentrout tackles some DARK issues in Wait for You. I can list a plethora of reasons why I loved this book (yes most of them are Cam related), but I think for me it's the ease in which she handles these truly important issues that are the real selling points. J Lynn handles these issues (no spoilers here, I'll let you discover them for yourself) whilst managing to make sure that she never sounds preachy and most importantly, although there is angst the story is very touching and carefully handled!

The main character Avery is a great creation because she's really likeable (for the most part, there were times when I wanted to hit her for being so obtuse). The reader really gets sense of her past and present difficulties. I really wanted her to overcome her problems and fulfil her potential. Yes she's a shy (or repressed) natural beauty, but she's also funny and a trier (even if she does have to talk herself into action)!! She's also clumsy and as unfortunate as hell, with no brain to mouth filter!

The many layered Cam came with an impressive knowledge of astrology, cooking and mad bedroom skills! But more importantly Cam is so much more than another hot book boyfriend. He has his own demons and a past he has to face and overcome. I didn't think Jen could create a more appealing man since Daemon Black or since the very clever person managed to find a giff of Godfrey 'Magnus' Gao shirtless in the rain, but the very clever J Lynn has given the world 6' 3" of man crumpet known as Cameron Hamilton!

Wait for You is also really funny with some great characters. Avery's friends Jacob and Brit were a hoot!
My fav non-spoilery quotes:
  • Easy for you to say. You're the one who got plowed. I was doing the plowing.
  • The moment those words came out of my mouth I wanted to kick myself in the boob.
  • I would be clapping like a seal right now if I weren't so f**king hung over.
  • Oh, honey, if he swung batter-batter for my team, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
If I had any stars to give, then there'd be a whole sky full of them!!
