What they say: In a spellbinding new Highlands story from New York Timesbestselling author Lynsay Sands, the laird of the Buchanans finds the one woman who is his equal in passion and courage...
Aulay Buchanan has retreated to his clan’s hunting lodge for a few days of relaxation. But the raven-haired beauty he pulls from the ocean puts an end to any chance of rest. As she recovers, it will not be easy for Aulay to protect her and keep her honor intact when she mistakenly believes they are man and wife.
Jetta sees beyond Aulay’s scars to the brave, loyal warrior she’s proud to call her own. But as the attempts on her life grow more brazen, Jetta realizes that not all is as she believes. And if Aulay is not her husband, can she trust the desire flaring in his eyes, or his promise to defend her with his life?

What I say: This is the first book I've read in Lynsay Sands' Highland Brides series so I didn't have any previous knowledge of the other couples, but the book works well as a standalone.
On a misson to have a few days respite from the demands of being Laird, Auley Buchanan's fishing trip with his brother is interrupted when they find an unconscious young woman drifting in the sea. Little does he know that by rescuing her he's going to unleash one heck of a mystery which will alter his life forever.
With amnesia and no idea of her name or where she's from they name her Jetta because of her black hair. As Jetta struggles with her injuries and trying to regain her memory, she mistakenly believes Auley is her husband. Now I know he goes along with this to help her, but he doesn't exactly protest when this beautiful and sweet young woman starts calling him 'husband'.
After a series of attacks and strange events Auley vows to protect her and discover where she's from. Auley is fierce and strong, but he isn't your average OTT alpha. I found this to be a nice change. He doesn't order Jetta around and is very caring. He takes the time to make her comfortable. Auley is scarred both on the inside and out so we see this brave highlander battle insecurity when it comes to Jetta's affections.
I'm not the biggest fan of amnesia book tropes but I'll forgive it here because it does provide some charming moments of misdirection.
When the revelations start coming they do so at a rapid pace. The ending is surprising if a little convenient, but I enjoyed this quick story and charming hero.
3.5 Stars in my Sky!
