What they say: First in the new Silver Valley series from the New York Timesbestselling author of the Reapers Motorcycle Club Novels

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward—full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her—the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: I'm a big fan of Joanna Wylde's Reaper’s MC series and I can often be found fan-girling over at her Facebook group page. Therefore I was obviously really excited to get my greedy paws on her latest release, the shiny new spin-off Silver Valley series. I'm so glad I did because Wylde doesn't disappoint. Instead of focusing centrally on the Reaper's, this time we get to know Puck and the Silver Bastard's (don't worry a few of our favs make appearances). Silver Bastard works well as a new series and you don't need to have read her Reaper's books but honestly they're easily my favourite MC series so I'd definitely recommend you read them first. *There may be a few spoilers about the Reaper's MC books!*

I'm not going to give you a blow-by-blow account of the plot as I don't want to spoil anything for you. If you've read all the Reaper's books (or the above blurb) then you'll remember Puck as the Silver Bastard prospect who helps them out and ends up in jail with Painter. The story picks up after they are released and we learn what happened next.  Fresh out of jail Puck meets Becca who is beautiful, sweet and kinda of innocent. A serious of unfortunate events result in a huge upheaval from which neither of them will ever be the same.

Puck is fierce, loyal and all things a true MC hero should be. This not only terrifies but also intrigues Becca. She's is a good example of how you can be afraid of someone but be really turned on by them at the same time. I liked both characters and felt they complimented each other well. Becca changes a lot throughout the course of the book but she maintains her inner fire and learns to take charge of her life. She also learns to be more open and trusting. I loved Puck's determination and how protective he is of those he loves. There are lots of sexy times and their interactions are hot.

Wylde really opens up the scope of the biker MC world in Silver Bastard because we are introduced to more MC's, different bikers and other locations. She manages to seamlessly merge all the elements together and has created a fabulously crazy, dangerous, sexy and complicated world. It was nice to see the different types of MC's and how the characters handle certain situations in very different ways.

I'm always a little unsure when one of my favourite authors releases a new series because sometimes when they branch out into an unfamiliar world it's never as good as the original, but with Silver Bastard Wylde really delivers. It doesn't hurt that it's a spin-off and that we were introduced to Puck as a sort of 'back door pilot' in Reaper's Stand, but I honestly believe I would have enjoyed Puck and Becca's angsty and dramatic story without having read anything about the Reaper's

As with the Reaper's books, Silver Bastard isn't all romance and sex because the characters face a lot of issues, drama and action. We are introduced to fab group of secondary characters and a new set of problems. But I loved it, roll of book two...

4.5 Stars in my Sky!

Excerpt:

“What the fuck happened out here?” Danielle asked, her arm suddenly around my shoulders. I immediately felt better. Danielle and I balanced each other out perfectly—she was batshit crazy and insanely optimistic. Make that dangerously, recklessly optimistic.  As for me, I spent nearly all my time focused on staying sane and getting ahead. That didn’t leave much time for things like actually living my life.

We’d met each other our senior year of high school, when she’d offered to drive me back and forth to town in her shiny new Jeep Wrangler. This spared me from the horror of sharing a battered school bus with every hormonal teen living in the greater Callup  metropolitan area. After a particularly harrowing ride home in her car one night (long story short, it took us six hours to travel thirty miles and by the time we pulled into town, we had matching tattoos of chipmunks wearing scarves) I decided it was my job to keep her from accidentally killing herself.

In return, she pushed me to do fun things, reminding me at least once a week that I was only twenty-one and perhaps the fate of the universe didn’t literally rest on whether or not I balanced my checkbook to the penny. Along the way, she taught me how to do smoky eye makeup, how not to freak out when a guy asked me to dance, and how to “borrow” music off the Internet. (When I pointed out that “borrowing” music was stealing, she agreed and started using iTunes for her downloads. To finance this, she “borrowed” her dad’s credit card.)

“Well, apparently me and Blake no longer work here,” I said, leaning my head against her. “I don’t know if you’re fired or not.”

“Fuck that,” Danielle declared. “Eva can kiss my ass. If you’re out, I’m out.”

“You weren’t even part of it,” I protested.

“I don’t care. You’re a much better waitress than I am. If she fired you, no way I’d last there anyway. Let’s go get drunk!”
