New Release and Review - Finding Storm

Finding Storm
by Samantha Towle

Out now!!!

Spin off time baby!!

What they say: The son of an icon.

He was a legend. Rock royalty.

A man I never met.

But I’m measured against him in every aspect of my life.

The only time I feel like me … the real me … is when I’m onstage with my band. But the more we grow in popularity, the more people compare me to him.

I’m not him. And I never will be. If only everyone could figure that out for themselves.

I need a break from it all.

Then, a confrontation has me jumping in my car, putting LA in my rearview mirror. And a stupid mistake ends up with my car on the side of the road. And straight into the path of a girl who is the exact opposite of everyone else in my life.

She’s like everything I used to know.

And she has no clue who I am.

Even if she did, I don’t think she’d care.

She thinks I’m cavalier.

I think she’s intriguing. And hot. Let’s not forget hot.

I’m stuck in this town overnight while my car is being fixed. But I’m thinking I’m gonna stick around a bit longer.

I’m Storm Slater, lead guitarist in Slater Raze and the only child of the late, great Jonny Creed. But, here, right now … I’m nobody. Just a regular guy.

I’m liking it a whole lot.

And I’m liking her even more.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: I'm a huge, squeezing fangirl when it comes to anything remotely The Mighty Storm (TMS) related and I do love a spin off/second generation story, so it's a win-win with Finding Storm!

Being the spawn of a rock legend is a heavy burden to carry, add in the fact that he's an awesome musician in his own right but is constantly compared to his deceased father and the fact that key events from his past have been hidden from him for years, it's safe to say Storm is not in a good place when the story starts.

Stevie has suffered more than her fear share of misery but she's an extremely positive character, who is kind, generous and unique. As you can prob tell, I loved her! I appreciated the fact that she never tried to be anything other than her kooky self and is happy in her own skin. I wish I could be more like her!

As with all the TMS related books, music is almost like another character. With Storm, music is his life in both positive and negative ways, but really it's his release. For Stevie music is really important, just in a different way, but it is still a positive release for her. My musical tastes are definitely more aligned with Storm's than Stevie's, but I'll never be able to hear a Madonna song without thinking of this story. I also loved the family musician names - I'm from a family with a Stevie and Lynsey (yes a different spelling) so I smiled at the references.

I seem to have said a lot about Finding Storm without really going into the plot. This is because I don't want to spoil any of their story for you. I will say (not a spoiler) that it was fab to catch up with old favs!!! I'm hoping there will be lots more books in the series. I'd love to see the rest of Slater Raze get their own stories, as well as JJ, Billy, Belle etc at some point too. More please Sam!!!

4.5 Stars in my Sky!

FINDING STORM will only available on Kindle priced at $2.99 as a special release price; this is only for a few days, then the price will rise to $3.99. It's the only time it will be on sale. Also, it'll be free on Kindle Unlimited.

Strong - Release Day Launch

Strong - A Stage Dive Novella for 1001 Dark Nights
 by Kylie Scott

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kylie Scott comes a new story in her Stage Dive series…

When the girl of your dreams is kind of a nightmare.

As head of security to Stage Dive, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Sam Knowles has plenty of experience dealing with trouble. But spoilt brat Martha Nicholson just might be the worst thing he’s ever encountered. The beautiful troublemaker claims to have reformed, but Sam knows better than to think with what’s in his pants. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to make his heart fall into line.

Martha’s had her sights on the seriously built bodyguard for years. Quiet and conservative, he’s not even remotely her type. So why the hell can’t she get him out of her mind? There’s more to her than the Louboutin wearing party-girl of previous years, however. Maybe it’s time to let him in on that fact and deal with this thing between them.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Look out for my review coming 30th!

Excerpt:

“My Valentino boots are actually sticking to the floor. That’s how gross this place is.”

Lizzy just smiled. “Told you to dress casual.”

“I am.”

The smile widened.

“Jeans and a tee is casual.”

“A tee? It’s velvet, Martha.” She held a bottle of beer up to her lips, taking a sip. “I said we were going to a dive bar. You have only yourself to blame for the fashion faux pas.”

“But velvet is in!”

“Would you two quit talking? I’m trying to listen,” said my brother, Ben. The big hairy idiot was slouched back in his chair, bopping his head in time to the music.

Lizzy shuffled closer all conspiratorial-like. “I know why you’re all dressed up.”

I said nothing. There was nothing to be said.

Next her gaze went to the man standing at the end of the bar across from us. No, no, I would not turn my head. I would not fall prey to her bull. After all, I’d managed to successfully avoid him for the forty-eight or so hours since my not so triumphant surprise return to the West Coast. Even with us both being in the same house. A very big sprawling house, but still.

On the other hand, it should probably be mentioned that he looked awfully good tonight in jeans and a white T-shirt with a leather jacket. Samuel Rhodes, otherwise known as Sam. Not a pretty man with his harsh features and bull-like neck, but something about him appealed to me. As always, his head was shaved and his body was built and my idiot fingers itched to explore.

Okay. So I guess at some point I must have turned my head. And shit, he caught me looking.

The corner of his lips rose just a little, just enough to mess with me, before he returned to doing his job by casually surveying the packed room. My heart did not speed up due to anything done by him. Clearly, I hadn’t totally caught my breath from when we’d walked in half an hour ago or something. That was all. Interesting to note, he did none of the checking me out typical of a heterosexual male who might have been into me. In fact, he didn’t really give me any signals at all. Ever.

As Dust Dances - Play On #2
by Samantha Young

What they say: The New York Times Bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series and PLAY ON returns to the world of the arts in this intense and emotional standalone romance about love, sacrifice, and surviving both.

Once upon a time Skylar Finch was the lead singer of a hugely successful American pop-rock band. But fame made her miserable. When years of living a lie suddenly ended in tragedy, Skylar fell off the map.

Eighteen months later she’s sleeping in a tent in a cemetery in Glasgow, making just enough money to eat by busking on the streets. She manages to avoid recognition, but not the attention of one of Glasgow’s ambitious A&R executives.

Killian O’Dea works at Skyscraper Records, Scotland’s most successful record label. Raised by his uncle and owner of the label, Killian’s upbringing would have been devoid of affection entirely if it wasn’t for his loving sister. Killian is unflinchingly determined to bring the label more success than ever, and the young homeless woman who busks on Buchanan Street is going to help him do that. Her music speaks to him in a way he refuses to over-analyze. All he knows is that if it can touch his dark soul, it’ll set everyone else’s alight.

Skylar makes it clear that she doesn’t want to sign with him. But when she experiences the dangerous reality of a woman sleeping rough, Skylar has no one else but Killian to turn to. An undeniable connection forms between them. But Skylar doesn’t want the career Killian is trying to forge for her, and when her past comes back to haunt her Killian will be faced with a decision that could ruin him. He must either free Skylar from his selfish machinations and destroy everything he’s ever worked for, or lose a woman who has come to mean more to him than he ever thought possible…

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: Aww!! As Dust Dances is heartwarming and poignant. It made me laugh and cry. Samantha Young feel brings out the feels and cuts deep with this emotional drama!

Skylar Finch is a pop-rock star who hates fame, like really hates everything about it. After a series of traumatic events she runs away from it all and in an attempt to escape from the heartbreak and drama of her past gives everything up. She has no money, friends or family and when we meet her she's living on the scary streets of Glasgow.

In an attempt to make enough money to eat, she takes on the persona of Busker Girl and plays for small crowds. In walks handsome and determined A&R executive Killian moody O'Dea. Killian wants to sign her to his family record label and won't take no for an answer.

The chemistry between them is instant and intense but they are both determined to ignore the growing tension and produce an album. To say Skylar is reserved about returning to the spotlight is an understatement but Killian wants to help her and make the label a lot of money - the story is about the struggle to find a balance.

The books delves into some pretty dark and traumatic issues. I was almost desperate for Skylar to face up to her issues rather than trying to suppress her emotions. It isn't just Skylar who has a painful past because Killian has seen more than his fair share of tragedy.

I loved the drama, music and emotion hat seeps off of every page. More please!

4.5 Stars in my Sky!

Excerpt:

When I finished, ODea was sitting on the chair, his elbows braced on his knees. He was staring at the floor, like he was lost in thought. Then he looked up at me and my breath caught at the million heartbreaking emotions roiling in his gaze.
And then they were gone, as if theyd never been there.
Thats all I have so far, I whispered, so confused by him. No more songs.
His expression was unreadable. Your visitors visa is about to run out.
Bewildered by the response, I could only nod.
Youve no money.
I tensed.
Youve run away from your identity, from your life in the band, in the US. Youve no family to speak of, and you abandoned your friends.
The man was the soul of sensitivity. “Your point?
My point is that you dont have many options. I think you were living in some naive fantasy that you could keep running from your problems and live a relatively peaceful life as a homeless person. Somehow, miraculously, you survived unscathed for five months. But last night you were given a giant fucking look at the reality and dangers of homelessness. I wish it hadnt happened that way, but there was never any other way it was going to end. And it has ended, am I right?
So, do you get, like, a bonus at the end of every day if you say a hundred patronizing things in a twenty-four-hour period or something?
He ignored me. “You cant go back to sleeping rough.
I think I got that, thanks. I waved my cast at him.
So  its either call your old manager, your band—
“Not an option,” I snapped.
O’Dea smirked. “Then I’m all you’ve got. And I’m no fucking Mother Teresa. I’m in the business of making money, Miss Finch. You’ve already proven you’re good at making it. And from what I heard today and have heard you playing when you busk, I think the world hasn’t even seen a fraction of what you can do.”
There was really nothing to do but glare and hope that he withered under it.
Ill let you stay here in this flat free of charge, give you a weekly stipend for clothes, groceries, a new guitar. You can heal up here. But all of it in exchange for a record contract. A one-album deal, thats all I ask. When youre healed up, youll be straight into the studio to record.
The thought made my stomach pitch. I dont want to be famous again.
Tough shit. There is no being famous again. You are famous. And youve got more talent in your pinkie finger than most do in their entire being. And that talent deserves more of a platform than standing on a street busking. Its a goddamned insult to all those people out there trying to make the big time. I dont care what it is youre running from. I care that you sort yourself out and make some music again. Music that matters. Music that will heal you.
I bristled. Ive made music that matters. Ive got the fan mail to prove it.
Your music in Tellurian did its job. It was catchy, appealing, and teenagers related. But your voice is meant for something else. The songs you just sang to me  those are songs that will really make people feel. It’s vulnerable and brutally honest and that’s the stuff that resonates with people. People want songs that make them feel good, but they also just want songs that me them feel, even if it breaks their fucking heart. Youve been through a lot, Skylar. Even if I couldnt read a newspaper, Id know that by listening to those songs you sang.
“Two years ago, you were a leader on social media and the lead singer of a pop-rock band that teens and college freshman loved. Im not asking you to go back to that. Im asking you to become an artist in your own right. If you dont want the social media exposure, well have someone else run that stuff for you. And well do what we can to minimize the tabloid exposure. It will be hard at first considering your disappearance, but once it dies down, we can make it so youre not hounded. It is possible.
It doesnt matter whether they hound me or not. I hate the fame. I hate the touring. I hate it all.
No. His expression hardened. You dont…”
