Ma's Top Books on Mother's Day

To celebrate Mother's Day in England I'm handing over the reigns to my lovely Ma.

She's the first to admit that she has a habit of forgetting or mixing up book titles, so we had a giggle trying to organise this list. Needless to say that aided by clues such as "oh I loved the romance with the bin" it took a while.

Here are some of her favourites...

Double Cross (Alex Cross #13) by James Patterson

She loved seeing Alex meet Bree and finally having a woman on his side to help.

I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

Poppy's antics really made her laugh.

Until We Collide by Charlotte Fallowfield

She "borrowed" my signed copy and still hasn't returned it!

Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

Much to my horror Mum and her friends all read and loved Christian in the Fifty Shades books.

Her Last Day (Jessie Cole #1) by T.R. Ragan

Mum loves a good murder mystery!

Happy Mother's Day Ma xx

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Watch the Sky

Because I write so many 'coming soon' themed posts I've decided to replace my Waiting on Wednesday weekly post with Whatcha Reading Wednesday instead. I'm going to write about one of the books I'm currently reading. It may be a future release, a new release or even revisiting a past favourite starting with a reread of...

Watch the Sky by Kirsten Hubbard

What they say: The signs are everywhere, Jory's stepfather, Caleb, says. Red leaves in the springtime. Pages torn from a library book. All the fish in the aquarium facing the same way. A cracked egg with twin yolks. Everywhere and anywhere. And because of them Jory's life is far from ordinary. He must follow a very specific set of rules: don't trust anyone outside the family, have your works at the ready just in case, and always, always watch out for the signs. The end is coming, and they must be prepared.

School is Jory's only escape from Caleb's tight grasp, and with the help of new friends Jory begins to explore a world beyond his family's farm. As Jory's friendships grow, Caleb notifies Jory's mother and siblings that the time has come for final preparations.

They begin an exhausting schedule digging a mysterious tunnel in anticipation of the disaster. But as the hold gets deeper, so does the family's doubt about whether Caleb's prophecy is true. When the stark reality of his stepfather's plans becomes clear, Jory must choose between living his own life or following Caleb, shutting his eyes to the bright world he's just begun to see.

RUIN Release and Review

RUIN
by Samantha Towle

And the new heavyweight champion of the world is...

Those are the words that Zeus Kincaid has been waiting to hear since he first put on a pair of boxing gloves. He just didn’t think they would come with a tragedy that would change how he viewed the sport forever.

Cameron Reed was in her second year at Juilliard when her childhood sweetheart, Zeus Kincaid, walked away from her. A few months later, Cam realized that she would never fulfill her dream of dancing for the New York City Ballet.

Now working as a dancer in an upscale club in Manhattan, Cam is brought face-to-face with the man she once loved. And it’s her turn to walk away from him.

After five years of missing Cam, Zeus isn’t prepared to let her go again. But when he finds himself standing on her doorstep the next morning, things don’t go quite as he expected…

‘You’ll be smitten with everything about this entertaining, steamy and feel-good romance’ USA Today’s Happy Ever After on Breaking Hollywood

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: It's no secret that I'm a huge Samantha Towle awkward fangirl (I managed to prattle on at her about her shoes and forget to get a picture with her at a recent book signing) so I always make sure to approach every new release of hers without bias and be as objective as possible. That being said, I can always rely on Samantha to provide a fun, dramatic and swoon worthy story full of sexy charm and witty banter!

Sam is the Queen of bad boys. She gave us rockstars and racers to swoon over, and now we have badass boxer Zeus

Zeus and Cameron were school sweethearts. She was the good girl ballerina who won his heart. They were love's young dream until life and his career got in the way, and he does the unthinkable. Cam's left with a broken heart and one heck of a life changer that she sure wasn't expecting.

Years later and Cam is a different kind of dancer and Zeus is a superstar fighter. Cam's locked down her feelings and Zeus remains a traumatic memory for her. As far as she's concerned he didn't want her or Gigi, so she's not prepared for him to make a sudden reappearance back in her life making all kinds of demands and promises.

I really liked Cam. She's funny, sweet and sassy. I loved her relationship with her aunt and Gigi is just too cute. Zeus is full of the usual Samantha Towle leading man cocky charm and swagger. He's vulnerable and oh-so caring. I'm really hoping we get to see more of his siblings...

I love a second chance romance because there's something wonderful about watching characters who  thought they missed their chance at a HEA realising that just maybe they can find one after all. Team Towle for the win!

4.5 Stars in my Sky!
