Book Description:

When Savannah Martin walks in on her abusive boyfriend and her best friend in bed together, she thinks life can't possibly get any worse. And then she wakes up in a hospital in Italy, scared and alone. With nowhere left to go, Savannah runs to the family who took her in when her mother abandoned her as a teenager.

But things aren't as simple as they were then.

For starters, two years of constant emotional abuse has broken Savannah in ways she's not sure can be repaired. And patriarch Matthew Talbot has been murdered, leaving his eldest daughter, Lexi, in charge of a global non-profit and her younger sisters.

Jared Corbit, Lexi's gorgeous boyfriend, is the only thing standing between her and whoever murdered her father. That doesn't stop Savannah from falling in love with him. She knows it's wrong, but she just can't stay away from him when he makes he feel like no one else ever has before.

Finding out his relationship with Lexi is a ruse should make things easier, but when the truth is finally revealed, Savannah's fragile world threatens to fall apart. What I say (review): All Falls Down had me from the prologue, although I have to admit the story went in a very different direction from where I expecting. It's a complicated, forbidden love story featuring some traumatic and turbulent scenes, alongside some really sweet and romantic ones.

Savannah is a scared young woman who is trying to move on from a horrible past. She's looking for a way to live with past mistakes and rejoin her family Lexi, Kit and Madeline. Be warned her story is traumatic and may contain potential abuse triggers. When she returns home and meets a handsome stranger, she is instantly drawn to him. Jared is strong, intense and guarded, he also happens to be Lexi's boyfriend...

The story is extremely dramatic and takes several unexpected turns. Every time I thought Sav was finally going to be able to escape from her past, something would happen she'd be pulled under again. She is really positive and I felt that she handles everything well and with grace. I'm undecided about Lexi, who I wanted to like, but found it difficult at times.

I enjoyed the story although I did think they made things harder for themselves than they needed to be at times. Don't get me wrong, there are MANY reasons why their situation is extremely complicated, but I would have liked them to have been more honest with each other (and themselves).

I liked Jared and how he cared for all the girls (although I really wanted him to get another nickname for Sav). The sneaky peek inside Jared's head made me smile and it helped me to appreciate why he does certain things - so sweet!

Have the tissues ready for this one and be prepared to laugh and cry along with the characters. There are some sexy scenes so be prepared to blush.

Rev Review

Rev - Bayonet Scars #3
by J.C. Emery

Add to Goodreads

What they say: Everyone belongs somewhere. Even the misfits.

With the looming threat from the Mancuso Crime Family, the Forsaken Motorcycle Club is preparing for a war that could destroy them. Grady, the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms, knows that love makes you weak, and he has zero interest in adding to his liabilities– especially now. He’s already got his teenage daughter who keeps him on his toes and a beef within the club that could fracture his relationship with a fellow brother for good.

For Holly Mercer, her life is finally getting on track and the last thing she wants is trouble from her hometown’s resident outlaws. Keeping her nose clean is easier said than done, when suddenly she finds herself embroiled in club business. Holly might like the idea of being with a real-life bad boy, but even being in the same room with tough-as-nails Grady flusters her.

When Holly inadvertently finds herself on Mancuso’s radar, she has two choices: trust that Grady will protect her, or continue to refuse the club’s help. Both roads are dangerous, but only one has the chance to damage her beyond repair.

Love is never more dangerous than when it can destroy you.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

What I say: Holly has recently moved back to her hometown and starts working at her old high school. She finds herself dealing with the so called 'problem children' of the local MC Forsaken. One of these students Chey is the daughter of bad ass and grumpy biker Grady.

I wasn't expecting to like Grady because he's been an asshat in the previous books (don't get me wrong he definitely has his moments in Rev) but for the most part he won me over far more so than Ryan and Duke did.

Grady's only real soft spot seems to be for his daughter and when faced with Holly, they instantly clash - oh the fireworks!! I loved these two, they had me laughing at their banter, swooning at their naughty scenes and wanting to shake some sense into them when they were at their worst! Both are extremely stubborn and it was good to see how Grady had met his match in Holly.

The club drama has again continued from the previous books but there was one particularly upsetting twist I didn't see coming. The secondary characters play a big part in the story (loved Chey and Jeremy) but I'd like to see more of Mindy and Ian. The male characters in this series all seem to have inherited the alpha gene. Although they do show moments of vulnerability with their leading ladies, they can all be real arseholes and will not be for everybody. With every book in this series the bikers seem to grow on me and I find myself more accepting and forgiving of their behaviour - everybody loves a bad boy, right?!

As a warning Rev has a few scenes of sexual violence which may be potential triggers.

Waiting on Wednesday: Wicked

Something Wicked this way comes!!

*Note* Wicked was initially going to be last weeks Waiting on Wednesday book & The Queen was scheduled for today, but I swapped them around because I noticed another blog I follow also had Wicked as their W.O.W. last week. I respect them too much to use the same posts as them (even unintentionally). But I'm so excited about Wicked I still wanted to post about it...

This Week I'm Waiting on:

Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout

What they say: Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

  • Expected publication: Dec 8th 2014.

Why I'm Waiting on Wicked:

  1. Er have you read the blurb?!
  2. As a JLA fan-girl of course I'm going to read it!
  3. Love the names Ren and Ivy!
  4. Ren sounds like Daemon!
  5. It sounds awesome!

Saving Grace Review

Saving Grace
by Michele Paige Holmes

Add to Goodreads

What they say: From Whitney Award Winning Author, Michele Paige Holmes, comes SAVING GRACE, a regency romance from the Hearthfire Romance series:

After the death of her grandfather, the Duke of Salisbury, Grace Thatcher wants nothing more than to live quietly in the country with her younger siblings. Her father’s debts thwart those plans, and to protect her sister, Helen, Grace must marry a man of her father’s choosing.

As each suitor proves less than desirable, Grace comes up with clever schemes, causing each to reject her. While staying at the mysterious Sutherland Hall, a middle-of-the-night mishap sends Grace into the arms of a stranger, Nicholas Sutherland—and provides inspiration for her grandest plan yet—one that will leave her reputation in tatters yet free both her and Helen from all possibility of marriage.

Too late Grace regrets her rash actions when her father’s last choice, Mr. Samuel Preston, proves to be a gentleman and a friend. But Samuel is the sworn enemy of Nicholas Sutherland, the man responsible for her “ruin.” Now instead of being free, Grace is caught between two men—each with his own agenda.

What I say: I love historical fiction and regency romances in particular make me smile. I think it's because these stories focus on a world very different from our own and bring out my sentimental side.

In Saving Grace we are treated to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and schemes gone wrong. The story follows Grace Thatcher as she tries to avoid marriage to a man of her horrible father's choosing. Grace finds herself on the wrong side of Lord Nicholas Sutherland and in his home. He doesn't want her there and she doesn't want him. She would much prefer to spend time with the more jovial Samuel Preston.

I laughed a lot reading Grace's story and appreciated her selfless nature and the lengths she was willing to go to for her younger brother and sister. Nicholas has got brooding down to a fine art and is super surly. Once I read more about his past I understood why Nicholas is like he is. The banter between them was really funny and an unexpected addition to the story.

I would have liked a little more back story about Samuel and I did feel as though certain outcomes were a little convenient but perhaps it's just my cynical mind because they do work well within the story and I liked the ending.
