As his lips claimed hers, he wanted to consume all of her in the kiss. He realized somewhere in the back of his head that she wasn’t fighting him. She was standing there, stiff against him and the wall, and he softened the hold on her arms, still not wanting to let go, unsure if he was even able to let her go. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her into him, drawing her closer. He caressed her with his fingertips, urging her to come closer toward him, trying not to force anything on her. He wanted her to have a say, but he wasn’t so sure of himself. He wasn’t so sure if he’d be able to let her go if that was what she wanted.
She tasted the way he thought she would, and he lost himself in the kiss.
Suddenly, Casey was kissing him back, and he knew she was there with him when their mouths started dancing the slow seductive dance, testing the angles that would give them more of each other. He sipped the heat from her, transferring his own to her, letting her know that this would end in a fast and wild dance. A dance that only the two of them would share.

I was born in Euclid, Ohio, living in Wickliffe until I was seven. It was then that we moved to a small town in Kentucky. I married young and still live in that small town with my husband. We have three children, a daughter-in-law, and three (almost four now!) grandchildren. Our parents all live close by, as well as our children. I love watching my birds on the deck and having herb gardens and trees. My pinterest account is mostly filled with books I love reading and also on gardening ideas.
I’ve always enjoyed writing. It wasn’t until the death of my middle sister, that I found that I could escape my daily life in writing, it was a great way to deal with the mourning process. The only sharing I did during this time was for extra credit in school and for my friends and family.
My desire to write took a side-burner when I had children of my own. But with time passing, the stories became more like little movies and I knew I needed to write again. As I worked on this book, I never thought I would do anything with it, but as time passed, I knew I wanted to share it! One of my favorite authors, Susan Mallery was going to be at a convention. She kept posting about the RT convention, and so I ended up going to my first one. I learned a lot there and made some wonderful friends (Monica, Damon, and Stephanie), but most importantly, it gave me direction. The second one I attended, I submitted my book to the company I fell in love with through Monica.

I work as a paramedic and love this job also! It’s very rewarding as it is also stressful! EMS does not get the justification as it should, especially when EMS and firefighting are two separate identities as in most smaller communities. Most of my off time is filled with family and getting the time to just stay at home.

“Look,” I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying to form a rational sentence. “What I’m saying is…” then I was struck by pure brilliance, “…I should screen every single likely candidate so I can run a full background check for any felonies or Class A misdemeanors.”
Ignoring my perfectly reasonable suggestion, Chloe spoke up, “And the next time you want to pick up a woman at the Moose and take her home for a roll in the hay, I’ll expect you to call me first so I can come down and administer a blood test, you know,” she smiled sweetly, even though I could see the evil behind it, “for safety reasons.”
“That’s not the same thing,” I argued.
“Oh, I’ve got to hear this,” Harlow laughed. “And why, exactly, is it different for you than it is for Chloe?”
“Because I’m a man,” I answered instantly, regretting the words that came out of my mouth as soon as they passed my lips. “Wait! No — that’s not what I meant to say. What I meant is — I’m bigger. I’ve got more muscles. I can defend myself if need be.”
“I’ll have you know, I’ve been taking weekly self-defense classes for the past four years. I’m more than capable of defending myself.”
And because I was clearly on a roll with all the stupid, I laughed. “Pfft, not likely. You’re a pixie for Christ’s sake.”
I barely got the last word out when I was suddenly choking on my own tongue, unable to take a proper breath as the kitchen floor came at my face at a startling pace only to be stopped by the force of something slamming into my chest, deflating both my lungs and sending me careening backward.
I gasped for air as I writhed on the floor in pain. “What—” I wheezed. “What just—” I sucked in a breath, getting nowhere near enough oxygen in my collapsed lungs, “happened?”
“You just got your ass handed to you by a girl!” Noah hooted before collapsing in a fit of uncontrollable laughter. “Oh God! You should have…” he stopped to wipe a tear from his eye, “…you should have seen your face! Classic! That was classic! Chloe, do it again so I can record it this time.”
As I lay on the kitchen floor, dying, I cursed Noah Murphy. I had no friends.

Review - The Glass Coffin

The Glass Coffin

by Kelly Martin

Series: A Shattered Fairy Tale (Book #3)
Genre: Regency, Romance, Fairy Tale
Publisher: Blue Tulip Publishing

Gertrude “Trudy” Dodsworth wants nothing more than to be with the love of her life, William Haddington, Earl of Waverly. Her father, the evil “sin collector” Frederick Dodsworth, forbids the union and sends Trudy and her mother far away to a town called Everdale. While there, Trudy catches the eye of the roguishly handsome and very controlling, Lawson Stockwell–also an earl. He asks for her hand in marriage. Trudy reluctantly agrees for the sake of her mother who has fallen suddenly ill.
William Haddington has hit a new low. Once thought of as a virtuous man, William has fallen from grace. Laden heavy with guilt, he trudges through life carrying the burden that is his to bear. He set the fire that disfigured Nicholas Wellington, The Beast of Ravenston. William goes to Everdale to start over, become himself again, try to move on, but when he sees the love of his life, Trudy, arm in arm with another man, he falls back into the bottle.
When the “gifts” begin appearing on his doorstep, William has no doubt they are from Lord Ravenston, who is known to get revenge on those who hurt him.
With time running out and his love for Trudy tearing him apart, William must decide if he will give into his feelings for her or force her to hate him forever.
Because The Beast is coming to Everdale.
And he’s coming to make William suffer.
Based on Sleeping Beauty

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: Oh the historical drama!!! I hadn't read the previous books in the series but although I missed a few small background details, The Glass Coffin works as a standalone and didn't impact on my enjoyment of the story.

Several errors in judgement and a whole load of desperation lead a lovestruck William Haddington, Earl of Waverly into a bit of a mess. He lost the woman he loves and is suffering from a large amount of guilt. Drink and philandering are his coping mechanism of choice, but when faced with the prospect of Trudy marring someone else, he realises something else needs to be done.

Trudy Dodsworth is being forced into a loveless marriage with the too-good-to-be-true Earl, Lawson Stockwell by her overbearing and horrible father. I liked her sweet, yet fierce demeanour. She works hard to find her own happiness. Her small rebellions against the tyranny of her father were some of my favourite parts of the book.

William finds himself confronted by another secret in the form of the fearsome Beast. I wished I knew more about the Beast (his story is told in a previous story), but he proves to be a fearsome enemy...

The Glass Coffin is a sweet retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story. I would have liked a little more insight into the character's emotions, because it was a little difficult to engage with them at times. Overall I liked the story and particularly appreciated Trudy's struggle.

3.5 Stars in my Sky!

Author Spotlight:

Kelly Martin writes paranormal, contemporary, historical, and YA fiction. She has been married for over ten years and has three rowdy, angelic daughters. When she’s not writing, she loves taking picture of abandoned houses, watching horror gamers on YouTube– even though she’s a huge wimp– and drinking decaf white chocolate mochas. She’s a total fangirl, loves the 80s and 90s, and has a sad addiction to paranormal TV shows. {Basically, she likes creepy stuff.} Her favorite characters are the very flawed ‘good guys’–and ‘bad guys’ who don’t know they are evil. She loves giving her readers books with unexpected twists and turns, but (here’s a hint) most of her books have the ending spelled out in the first chapter. See if you can figure it out.

I’d always thought of Chloe as cute, pretty in a girl-next-door kind of way. But when I stepped through the doorway leading to the backyard, the sight before me was one I hadn’t expected. She looked… well, hot. She was the type of woman who wore minimal makeup, and it worked for her, but now… now those big doe eyes of hers stood out, and the way her hair hung down her back in wild, attractive curls… I couldn’t quite put my finger on why she appeared so different, I just knew she did.
And the way my dick twitched behind my fly screamed to the fact that it was not a good thing. Head out of the f***ing gutter, Anderson. Chloe wasn’t the type of woman I needed to ogle shamelessly. She was a friend, someone I cared about. She was the type of woman you kept, putting a ring on her finger and surrounding her with a white picket fence and a shit load of kids. And as a man unwilling to give her what she deserved, I needed to get myself in check.
Because she deserved better than anything I was capable of giving her.
