What I say: If you're familiar with with Jay Crownover's writing you'll know her unique knack for creating brilliantly strong, yet vulnerable characters, who tug at your heartstrings and make you smile - she also always brings out the swoon!
Jay always manages to find a way to unite very different characters in her books and SALVAGED is no exception. Poppy Cruz and Hudson Wheeler have been through a heck of a lot of pain and suffering but are working hard to move on. Their circumstances are very different by their pain is raw and deep.
Poppy is a sweet girl who has been through some of the worst experiences imaginable. Her pain is part of her daily life so she has to learn to fight for herself and decide what she wants. She's been let down by so many people that I'm not sure how she finds the strength to keep fighting but she has such huge determination for a quiet and calm character. Poppy is proof you can say just as much without increasing the volume by being honest and caring. I cannot imagine experiencing anything near as horrifying as she has on numerous occasions but I have huge amount of respect for her immense strength and loving personality. Puppies!!!

Wheeler is a treasure. The perfect BBF - I loved him. He's patient, caring, sexy and determined. I loved how he learnt to channel his needs rather than putting everybody else first all the time but still stayed strong and selfless and never loses himself to anger.

Do we get to see any of our favs from previous books? You betcha, but I'm not going to tell you anything about them - no spoilers here! 

Poppy Cruz and Hudson Wheeler are another brilliant addition to Team Jay! I really don't want to let the Saints of Denver or the Marked series go but am looking forward to meeting the new characters Jay introduces us to and to finding more BBFs!

Excerpt:

I put my hands to my cheeks and held my face. I could feel heat under the surface and I could hear the rush of blood between my ears.

“Are you going to be okay? Do you need me to get you something? Should I grab Dixie?” He sounded genuinely concerned about me and that only made me shake even harder.

“No, I’m fine.” I wasn’t fine and hadn’t been in a very long time. “Dixie is in Mississippi. She took Dolly down because Church moved into the house he rented for them and she wanted the dog to get used to their new home and so she could see what it was like to have a yard.” I was babbling but I couldn’t stop the words from pouring out. “How do you move me without laying a hand on me?”

He looked up from where he was watching the puppy dig into his chow. Those blue eyes were like lasers as they cut into me from across the room. He put his hands on the counter and leaned forward. “What are you talking about?” His voice held that same even tone but there was something in it, some deeper note, that let me know he knew exactly what I was talking about.

I wrapped my arms around myself in a protective hug and met his look with a pointed one of my own. “I get stuck, frozen with fear. I end up caught between memories and reality. Most people grab my arm or touch me somewhere to get me moving again. Either that or they go around me like I’m in the way. You made me move without doing anything.”

His eyebrows shot up and the corners of his mouth pulled down in a frown. “People shouldn’t touch you unless you tell them it’s okay, even if you are in the way.”

His words had me shivering in a completely different way than I had been before and I was the opposite of cold. “I didn’t use to mind it.” The words cracked and sounded almost as broken as I felt on the inside. “I mean being touched. It was until…after.”

He lowered his gaze and I saw his chest rise and fall as he sucked in a deep breath. “The reason doesn’t matter. If you don’t like it, people should respect that. No one has a right to put their hands on you unless you want them there.”

Right there in that moment I thought I wouldn’t mind it too terribly much if he walked across the room and replaced the frail and thin arms that were currently holding me together with his thick, strong, tattooed ones. It was probably the only touch I would ever crave but I would never be brave enough to ask for it, so I cleared my throat and awkwardly made my way closer to where he was standing. I lifted myself up into one of the barstools that was across the counter from him and put my hands on the cool surface separating us and prayed they would stop shaking.

What I say: Lost in Me is an interesting one because it manages to be a combination of most girls dreams and nightmares. By this I mean it begins with Hanna waking up after an accident, suddenly finding herself engaged to the man of her dreams, having lost a whole load of weight and with a successful business. She also seems to have gorgeous and successful rocker Nate, after her. The downside is she has no recollection of how any of this came about and does't know what happened to her or where her heart lies.
I'm often really critical of love triangles but I actually found the one between Hanna, Max and Nate really intriguing. I definitely had my favourite but thought both guys could do with a talking to at times. When will people learn half-truths or lies by omissions are still lies?!
I wasn't expecting to, but I found Hanna really likeable and wasn't entirely convinced by her twin sister (who I thought had a sneaky side). I kept changing my mind over who I trusted and who I didn't. It seemed the more the story developed, the less I actually trusted certain characters. 
THAT ending! I'm not sure where Lexi Ryan can take the story after the many revelations we get towards the end of the book. Max has a LOT of problems to overcome if he's going to win Hanna (and the reader over). But Nate wasn't exactly a shining example of the good guy and somebody has definitely been lying to Hanna (this makes sense when you read the book). Be warned there is a big cliffy and the story ends rather quickly, but I defo need to know what happens next!!
