Fri-YA My Plain Jane

Must have!!

My Plain Jane - The Lady Jane's #2
by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows & Brodi Ashton

What they say: You may think you know the story. After a miserable childhood, penniless orphan Jane Eyre embarks on a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall. There, she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester. Despite their significant age gap (!) and his uneven temper (!!), they fall in love—and, Reader, she marries him. (!!!)

Or does she?

Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions, in which all is not as it seems, a certain gentleman is hiding more than skeletons in his closets, and one orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring author Charlotte Brontë, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood are about to be drawn together on the most epic ghost hunt this side of Wuthering Heights.

Waiting on FRIDAY: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Waiting on Wednesday is my weekly post where I obsess over the shiny new books I cannot wait to read! This week after a slight oversight on my part (I forgot to publish my post) I'm going with Waiting on Friday!

This week, I'm waiting on... The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey! I know it has just been released in the States but I haven't managed to get my greedy hands on it over here in the UK yet.

What they say: The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Why I'm Waiting on The 5th Wave... It's been described as The Hunger Games with aliens. What's not to love?

I'm a huge fan of the Ravening series by Erica Stevens (see reviews here and here). It is essentially about a dystopian world where aliens have attacked and the surviving humans battle to survive, not knowing who to trust. Similarly The 5th Wave sounds exactly like my kind of book!

Also Rick Yancey has produced some truly great books - The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp series rocked. You can find more about Rick on his official site.

Review to follow as soon as I can get my paws on a copy...!
