Royally Bad
by Nora Flite

Getting close to an arrogant bad boy like him is dangerous. Too bad it’s her only choice.
Kain Badd looks great on paper: rich, handsome, and he’s even a prince. But after spending a few minutes together, Sammy sees the real him—arrogant, possessive, and too hot for his own good. But he won’t let her.
When Sammy thinks her life can’t get any crazier, the wedding is raided by the police, and she spends her first-ever night in jail. The irresistible Kain isn’t just bad in name—his family is connected to a dangerous underworld. Now she’s mixed up in a power struggle between his family’s empire and their rivals. She has no choice but to put herself back in this filthy prince’s extremely capable hands.
Sammy must trust Kain to keep her safe. She’s just not sure she can trust herself to resist temptation.

What I say: The premise of Royally Bad is fun and entertaining. I liked the idea of the gangster prince and the wedding dress maker.

I laughed more than expected, although I have to admit, not all of my laughter was necessarily in places where it was supposed to be. Certain elements were particularly far fetched - BUT this was also what I really enjoyed about Sammy and Kain's romance. The drama and escapism.

Sammy is awkward and funny. I honestly wasn't sure what she was going to do or say next. She finds herself going from dress maker extraordinaire/unwilling wedding guest, to basically being deeply involved with the Band family and all aspects of Kain's life.

I expected to love Kain but he didn't manage to totally win me over. I wasn't sure about how he treats Sammy at times or allows others to treat her whilst claiming to want the best for her. Don't get me wrong, he does bring on the swoon and I did like him, but just didn't love him.

The story involves twists galore and although I did find some events hugely unlikely, I enjoyed the story and really wanted Sammy and Kain to find their unique HEA together...

Unexpectedly Hers - Review

Unexpectedly Hers - Sterling Canyon #3

by

By day, bashful wallflower Emma Duffy works at her family’s bed-and-breakfast. By night, she secretly pens erotic romance hot enough to melt the snow in their cozy Rockies town.
But Emma’s real life is about to heat up when her mother books the entire inn to a professional snowboarder, hoping the publicity will put them on the map. In a karmic twist of fate, that guest is Wyatt Lawson, the man with whom Emma had shared the secret one-night stand that became the inspiration for her novel and its dreamy hero. Worse, a film crew is documenting his comeback just as her debut is about to hit the shelves. Emma’s only saving grace is that Wyatt doesn’t remember her—and hopefully he never will.
When Wyatt arrives in Sterling Canyon for several weeks of intense training, the last tumble he expects to take is falling for a girl, especially one as shy as Emma. Unlike groupies with their hidden agendas, she isn’t using him—or so he believes…until the film crew uncovers Emma’s pen name and steamy novel.
Wyatt’s comeback run can withstand a fall or two, but can his heart recover from this crash and burn?

What I say: Unexpectedly Hers is a short and sweet contemporary story your inner romance lover will enjoy.

Left in charge of the family B&B whilst her mother micromanages from her trip *ahem* holiday, manager extraordinaire, Emma works hard to keep the business afloat. She struggles to live up to her mothers high expectations and wholesome demands. In secret Emma has been writing a romance novel based on a rare naughty night she spent with a handsome stranger aka snowboarder Wyatt years ago.

Thanks to her mother, Emma suddenly finds herself hosting an entire documentary film crew, along with Wyatt who is trying to make a big snowboarding comeback. Who btw doesn't remember his night with her (not that she's going to remind him) and his injured former boarder brother.

I liked Emma and felt she handles things really well. I REALLY wanted her to stand up to her mother and the small minded people living in the town, to go out and live a little.

I did feel that the secret romance writer element was a little overdone at times because I've seen this on numerous occasions recently. I did enjoy Emma's personal struggle - both wanting to share her secret with Wyatt and her family and friends but not wanting to be judged for it.

Wyatt oscillated between being really sweet and funny, to stroppy, demanding and hugely in denial about his brother, but I liked him and wanted him to remember his night with Emma.

I'm not always the biggest fan of this type of chick-lit but the snowboarder in me is always going to like a romance about a handsome pro-boarder!

What I say: Fatal Pursuit is part of The Aegis Series but it works as a standalone. I hadn't read the previous books and the only thing missing was more information about Marley's past. The series follows the lives and romances of the Aegis Security staff - this time the focuses is on boss man Jake and his assistant and wannabe field operative, the uber talented Marley.

Marley finds herself running off on a rescue mission to Columbia and Jake chases after her to 'rescue' her. For the most part Marley's pretty competent and I did get a little annoyed with Jakes He-Man attitude towards her at times. I couldn't believe he didn't see the reason why he was so protective of her. As much as his bossiness annoyed me, I did find him amusing.

I liked Marley and found myself cheering her on whenever she stood up to the many bossy men in her life. I also had my doubts about a certain person pretty early on but I wasn't expecting the dramatic turn the story takes.

Although the jungle chapters were a little extreme at times they did make me smile, and the hut scenes made me blush. Marley demonstrates a huge amount of patience putting up with Jake's many mood shifts, but she does her do her own share of back and forth.

I enjoyed this short and fast paced story but I'm not sure I'd have the patience to be controlled as much as she is by Jake, her Dad and most of the team.
