All About the Movie - Resistance Reborn

Fangirl squeal! The movie's coming soon, but first...

Resistance Reborn - Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
by Rebecca Roanhorse

What they say: The heroes of the Resistance must fight back fro the edge of the oblivion in this pivotal prequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Resistance is in ruins. In the wake of their harrowing escape from Crait, what was once an army has been reduced to a handful of wounded heroes. Finn, Poe, Rey, Rose, Chewbacca, Leia Organa -- their names are famous among the oppressed worlds they fight to liberate. But names can only get you so far, and Leia's last desperate call for aid has gone unanswered.

From jungles of Ryloth to the shipyards of Corellia, the shadow of the First Order looms large, and those with the bravery to face the darkness are scattered and isolated. If hope is to survive, the Resistance must journey throughout the galaxy, seeking out more leaders - including those who, in days gone by, helped a nascent rebellion tripple an empire. Battles will be fought, alliances will be forged, and the Resistance will be reborn.

Christmas Classic - How the Grinch Stole Christmas

With another movie adaptation I thought I'd celebrate this children's (and adult's) Christmas classic...

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
by Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss's small-hearted Grinch ranks right up there with Scrooge when it comes to the crankiest, scowling holiday grumps of all time. For 53 years, the Grinch has lived in a cave on the side of a mountain, looming above the Whos in Whoville. The noisy holiday preparations and infernal singing of the happy little citizens below annoy him to no end. The Grinch decides this frivolous merriment must stop. His "wonderful, awful" idea is to don a Santa outfit, strap heavy antlers on his poor, quivering dog Max, construct a makeshift sleigh, head down to Whoville, and strip the chafingly cheerful Whos of their Yuletide glee once and for all.

Looking quite out of place and very disturbing in his makeshift Santa get-up, the Grinch slithers down chimneys with empty bags and stealing the Whos' presents, their food, even the logs from their humble Who-fires. He takes the ramshackle sleigh to Mt. Crumpit to dump it and waits to hear the sobs of the Whos when they wake up and discover the trappings of Christmas have disappeared. Imagine the Whos' dismay when they discover the evil-doings of Grinch in his anti-Santa guise. But what is that sound? It's not sobbing, but singing! Children simultaneously adore and fear this triumphant, twisted Seussian testimonial to the undaunted cheerfulness of the Whos, the transcendent nature of joy, and of course, the growth potential of a heart that's two sizes too small.

This holiday classic is perfect for reading aloud to your favourite little Whos.

My fav quotes:

  • “Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
  • “And he, he himself...the Grinch...carved the roast-beast!”
  • "The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason."

Wardrobe Malfunction - Release Day Blitz & Review

Woo hoo! It's live baby!!!

Wardrobe Malfunction
by Samantha Towle

Release Day Blitz

From New York Times bestselling author, Samantha Towle, comes a new standalone romantic comedy.

Vaughn West, Hollywood heartthrob, has been at the top of his game for years. He thinks he’s untouchable—until a betrayal brings him spiraling down. Now, everyone pities him, and if there’s one thing Vaughn hates, it’s pity.

After a few months of working his way through every available actress, pop star, model, and waitress in California, Vaughn needs to get his life back on track and focus on what he does best—making hit movies.

Charlotte Michaels is in love. Just not with one person.
Louis Vuitton…
Christian Dior…
Valentino…
Gucci…
And the list goes on.

Sadly, Charly’s limited bank account doesn’t allow her those luxuries, and the closest she gets are lucky finds in charity shops and working closely with some of those names in her job as a wardrobe assistant.

Now, Charly has landed the mother of all jobs—working on the new Vaughn West movie. Excited doesn’t even cut it.

Only things don’t go as planned, and it turns out that Vaughn is actually a jerk. A hot jerk, but a jerk nonetheless.

So, why do their clothes keep falling off whenever they’re around each other? And why can’t Charly keep her mind in the closet and off Vaughn?

Getting mixed up with a smart-mouthed, fashion-obsessed wardrobe assistant is the last thing Vaughn needs.

Getting mixed up with an arrogant, self-centered, obnoxious, jumped-up actor who has a lack of respect for fashion is the last thing Charly needs.

Things are about to get hot, dirty, and messy in Hollywood. Very messy. Especially if Charly’s closely guarded secret falls out of her closet.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What I say: Samantha Towle always writes sexy BBFs. It's a fact. What she's also great at is creating super sassy heroines, Charly is no exception.

Charly, aka wardrobe assistant extraordinaire and wannabe designer, meets A-List Hollywood star Vaughn West on set and makes one heck of an impression!

Vaughn is quite the charmer, but his ego has taken a massive hit recently. A series of incidents have put his career in jeopardy so he has to be on his best behaviour and focus solely on his acting.

I loved Charly. She made me laugh from beginning to end. The combination of her quirky style and sense of humour resulted in a fab heroine. I liked how she stood her ground, going toe-to-toe with Vaughn.

Vaughn is instantly drawn to Charly and enjoys sparring with her - pins and all! I have to admit even when he was being a jerk I still loved him. I was totally won over by this charmer and wanted them to get their big Hollywood HEA.

Without turning into a complete fangirl (even though I am a massive ST fangirl), I know I can always count on Samantha Towle to create amazing secondary characters. Vaughn's family and Nick are particularly good additions to the story - I loved seeing the interaction between all the characters.

As you can probably tell I really enjoyed Wardrobe Malfunction and am hoping Nick gets his own story one day...
